Destination Sign Update

Opti-Luxx continues to aggressively defend our Retroreflective Destination Sign against patent infringement lawsuits filed by First Light Safety Products.

On November 29, 2023, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, a trial jury issued a verdict against Opti-Luxx. This verdict, however, does not conclude the case. We strongly believe in our non-infringement position and that errors occurred during the trial, which led to a misguided jury verdict. We are pursuing all legal options and are preparing to appeal this verdict. In the meantime, be assured that the Opti-Luxx legal team is taking this matter seriously and will follow all proper procedures as we navigate through these next steps.

At Opti-Luxx, we pride ourselves on developing industry-leading, high-quality LED lighting solutions for school buses and commercial vehicles—the brightest and best. The development of our LED Retroreflective Destination Sign for school buses was in direct response to the requests from our OEM and other customer partners who desired improvements to the existing signage options available for school buses. Our engineers took a methodical approach to prototyping many iterations, starting with initial concepts in 2014 and ultimately releasing the best final product for the industry— truly the next evolutionary leap in backlit, reflective signage.

For nearly 20 years, Opti-Luxx has designed and developed many of the first LED lights for school buses, including exterior signal and warning lights, as well as interior dome and boarding lights. We have developed specialized signs and lighting to make school buses—and the children they carry every day— safer. We strive toward continuous improvement and are always looking forward to developing the next best solutions for the industry.
